Fed Up Inc. educates kids on body image, self esteem and healthy living. We empower young people to shift cultural focus from diets and negative body image to healthy living at every size.
Founded in 2009, Fed Up Inc. creates young leaders, peer educators and social change. Based in Los Angeles, Fed Up goes inside “Hollywood” to get a close look at how media images are created. We work with stylists, makeup artists, photographers, hairstylists, actors, singers, personalities, agents, producers, directors and people behind the scenes who create the art that is Show Business. With this “inside knowledge” on how media is created we can encourage people to stop comparing themselves to these images.
We are a grassroots campaign that encourages people to be their best individual selves. Our young people graduate to become Junior Ambassadors, therefore, empowering them to encourage social change.
We offer a variety of programming opportunities. Please check under Programs to bring our movement to your community.
Finally we are pleased to announce our brand new campaign for 2012: The No Body Bashing™ Campaign. Body Bashing™ means speaking negatively about your own body, other people’s bodies or food. Examples include: “I am so fat”, “She should not be eating that”, “I am so bad for ordering fries”, “I have like 10 more pounds to lose so I am not ordering dessert”. This socially acceptable practice is hurtful not just to ourselves, but to those around us. By educating the community on stopping this practice we hope to increase self acceptance and empower people to be healthy for their own body type. We also hope to begin to start enjoying eating food in a communal and nurturing manner. We will be touring the US giving workshops and assemblies on what it means to stop Body Bashing™. You can take the pledge today by copying mine down below. You can also support the movement by ordering a No Body Bashing™ t-shirt today! Just email firstname.lastname@example.org subject line t-shirt. Proceeds benefit Fed Up Inc.’s No Body Bashing™ Tour.
The No Body Bashing™ Pledge:
I will not speak negatively about my body, other people’s bodies of food.
